How to Make Homemade Granola Bars

Granola bars are a great snack to have on hand when you’re on the go, but store-bought options can be expensive and packed with sugar and preservatives. Making your own homemade granola bars is easier than you might think, and allows you to customize the ingredients to your liking. Here’s a simple recipe for chewy and delicious granola bars that are perfect for snacking or as a quick breakfast.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (such as almonds or pecans)
  • 1/2 cup dried fruit (such as cranberries or raisins)
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a 9×13 inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the rolled oats, chopped nuts, and dried fruit.
  3. In a small saucepan, heat the honey, peanut butter, vanilla extract, and salt over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  4. Pour the honey mixture over the dry ingredients and stir until everything is evenly coated.
  5. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and press down firmly to create an even layer.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  7. Remove from the oven and allow the granola bars to cool completely in the pan.
  8. Once cool, cut the granola into bars and store in an airtight container for up to a week.
