Exploring Thai Cuisine: How to Make Pad Thai at Home

If you love Thai food, you’ve likely tried or heard of Pad Thai. This popular street food dish features rice noodles stir-fried with vegetables, meat or tofu, peanuts, and a tangy sauce. While it may seem intimidating to make at home, it’s actually quite easy and incredibly rewarding!

To start, gather your ingredients: rice noodles, protein (such as shrimp, chicken, or tofu), garlic, onion, bean sprouts, scallions, peanuts, eggs, and Pad Thai sauce ingredients (tamarind paste, fish sauce, sugar, and chili flakes).

First, soak your rice noodles in cold water for about 30 minutes until they’re soft. While your noodles soak, prepare your protein and vegetables by cutting them into bite-sized pieces. Then, make your Pad Thai sauce by whisking together the tamarind paste, fish sauce, sugar, and chili flakes.

Once your prep work is done, it’s time to cook! Begin by sautéing garlic and onion in oil until fragrant. Then, add your protein and cook until browned. Push everything to the side of the pan and crack in your eggs, scrambling until cooked. Add your noodles, vegetables, and sauce to the pan, stirring everything together until the sauce is evenly distributed and the noodles are cooked through.

Finally, serve your Pad Thai with a sprinkle of scallions and peanuts on top. Enjoy this delicious and authentic Thai dish right in your own kitchen!
